RAID 1 Degraded Mode and Rebuild for Mac
IfyourG-RAIDUSBisinRAID1congurationandeitherasingledrivefailureoccursorifa
memberoftheRAID1setisremoved,thentheactivedrivewilloperateindegradedmode.
What is Degraded Mode? Inatwo-driveRAID1array,ifoneofthedrivesfailsorifoneofthedrives
isremovedthentheactivedrivekeepstheuserdataintactbutwithoutanyfail-safemechanismuntil
theRAIDarrayisrebuilt.Thisstateofoperationiscalleddegradedmode.
TorebuildtheRAID1set,pleaseinsertanewdriveinplaceofthefaileddriveorthedrive
thathasbeenremoved.IfthisnewdriveisnotformattedthentheDiskUtilityfunctionwill
automaticallylaunchandyoucanformatthedrive.Ifthisreplacementdriveisformattedthen
youarereadytorebuildtheRAIDset.Toseehowtoreplaceafaileddrive,pleaserefertothe
sectionReplace a Failed Drive Module.
G-RAIDUSBhasanautorebuildfeaturebuiltintoit.Onceyouinsertaformattedreplacement
disktheRAID1willstartrebuildingautomatically.Totalrebuildtimeisdependentonthetotal
capacityofeachdrive.Therebuildtimeisapproximatelytwohoursperterabyte.

congureyourG-RAIDUSB,itwillneedtobetheonlydeviceconnectedtoyourcomputer.

OnceyouhavedownloadedtheRAIDCongurator,youshouldlaunchitdirectlyfromthe
zippedpackagewiththeapplicationinside.
