RAID1isgreatforprotectingandsecuringdata,makingitidealforsensitivedata,butit
operatesatthespeedofasingledrive.InRAID1,thearraywillbeat50percentofitstotal
capacityasthesamedataiswrittenormirroredtobothdrivessimultaneously.
JBOD
JBODmodeisgreatformaximumcapacityutilizationwithoutfearoflosingallyourdata,
asinthecaseofRAID0,buttheyeachoperateatthespeedofasingledrive.
The RAID Conguration Utility for Mac
TheG-TechnologyRAIDConguratorisusedtochangetheRAIDlevelofyourG-RAIDUSB.To
congureG-RAIDUSB,itwillneedtobetheonlydeviceconnectedtoyourcomputer.
TheRAIDConguratorutilityisavailablefordownloadfromtheG-Technologywebsiteat
g-technology.com/support.
OnceyouhavedownloadedtheRAIDCongurator,youshouldlaunchitdirectlyfromthe
mounteddiskimage.
Congure the RAID Mode for Mac
YoucaneasilycongureG-RAIDUSB’sRAIDmodewiththefollowingsteps.
Important Note: Changing the RAID level will erase all data on the drive. Be sure
all of the data and les you want to save are backed up to separate media.
1. LaunchtheG-TechnologyRAIDCongurationutility.Adialogwindowwillaskyouto
disconnectallotherexternalharddisksfromyourcomputer.Thisisimportanttoensurethat
theconguratordoesnotaectothereSATA,FireWireorUSBdevicesonyoursystem.
2. ClicktheContinuebutton.Awindowwillappeartellingyouthattheutilityissearchingfor
yourG-RAIDUSB.
