Working with the notebook
Using the power-management features
PowerPowerBattery
The notebook uses less power when the available power-management features are used. You
will then be able to work longer when using the battery before having to recharge it.
Power efficiency is increased and e n viron m ental pollution reduced. By
choosing the best power options, y ou can make significa nt savings and
at the same time help protect th e environment.
When you close the LCD scre en, depending on the setting in Windows, the
notebook au tomatically enters a powe r saving mode.
► Select the power management functions in your Control Panel.
If you need further information about an option, you ca n get help about most settings
by pressing the key com bination
Fn
+
F1
to show the Microsoft help.
When the notebook i
s in power-saving mod e, the fo llowing must be rememb ered:
During powe r savin
g mode, open files are held in the main memory
orinaswapfile on t
he hard disk.
Never turn off yo
ur notebook while it is in a power saving mode. If the built-in battery is
nearly empty, cl
ose the open files and do not go into power saving mode.
If you do not intend to use your note book for a long period of time:
► Exit power saving mode if necessary via the mouse or keyboard or by switching on the
notebook.
► Close all opened programs and completely shut down the notebook.
Adjusting system performance in Microsoft Windows
Your system is supplied with an optimally a djusted balance between system performance,
fan noise and battery life. If required, you can change the system performance in
mains operation or in battery operation separately by selecting the battery icon in the
Windows taskbar with the Windows Performance Power Slider.
• Maximum system performance increases fan noise and reduces battery life.
• Maximum battery life limits system performance.
