Securityfunctions
Your n otebook has several s ecurity features that you can use to secure your
system from unauthorised access.
This chapter explains how to use each function, and what the benets are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked out and unable to access your data. Therefore,
please note the following information:
Make regular backups to external storage devices such as external
hard drives, CD or DVD disks.
Some security functions need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the p asswords an d keep them in a safe place.
If you forget your passwords y ou will need to contact the our Service
Desk. Deletion or resetting of passwords is not covered by your warran ty
and a charge will be made for assista nce.

password in the BIOS Setup
and act ivate the password
protection for the operating
system and hard disk a s
desired.
Boot from remo vab le media
Prevents unauthorised booting
of an operating system from
external media (e.g. USB stick,
USB C D-ROM drive etc.).
In the BIOS Setup, go to the
Security menu and edit the
option Boot from Remov able
Media.
Owner Information Overlay service desk or owner
information during the boot
process.
In the BIOS Setup, go to the
Security menu and edit the
option O wner Information.
