You can choose to use either portrait or landscape orientation for the display.

You can change these settings under Windows 8 .1 Desktop - Control P anel -
Hardware and Sound - Windows Mo b ility Center / Ro tate screen.
To disable the automatic change between portrait and landscape formats, select Control
Panel – Appearance and Personalization – Display – Screen resolution.
