Important notes Protecting the display screen Depending on your device configuration, your device may not be waterproof. If this is the case, do not pour liquids on the device, and do not clean it with a wet cloth. Do not place items on the top of the display, or damage may occur. Before you travel ► Back up important data stored on your hard disk. ► Switch off the radio component for data security reasons. With data traffic via a wireless connection, it is also possible for unauthorised third parties to receive data.
Important notes Splashproof/dustproof Your Tablet PC is certified according to IP65. However, the slot covers must be securely sealed in the event of contact with water or dust. It is important to know that your warranty does not cover defects caused by improper use of your device, including use in environments where the relevant IP rating limitations are exceeded.
Important notes Cleaning the Tablet PC Always switch your Tablet PC off for cleaning. Your Tablet PC is protected against splash water and dust, but you should nonetheless prevent water or dirt from penetrating the Tablet PC and prevent accessories from becoming wet or dusty. The mains adapter, cradle and other accessories are neither waterproof nor dustproof. Do not use them in a bathroom, in a very moist environment or in places where it may rain. Only use cleaning products designed for computers.

If your device is equipped with a Windows operating system, the necessary hardware drivers and supplied software are already pre-installed. Before you switch on the device for the first time, connect it to the mains voltage using the mains adapter, see "Mains adapter connecting", Page 18.

Working with the Tablet PC Touchscreen Notes Touchscreen High-quality LCD screens (TFT) are installed in Fujitsu Tablet PCs. For technical reasons, these screens are manufactured for a certain resolution. An optimum and sharp image can only be ensured with the resolution intended for the particular screen. A screen resolution which differs from the specification can result in an unclear image. The screen resolution of your Tablet PC’s touchscreen is optimally set at the factory.

You can increase the life of the battery by caring for the battery properly. The average battery life is around 500 charge/discharge cycles. You can extend the battery life by taking advantage of the available energy saving functions.
Working with the Tablet PC Removing the battery ► Turn the device over and place it on a stable, flat and clean surface. If necessary, lay an anti-slip cloth on this surface to prevent the device from being scratched. 1 a ► Reach into the opening (a) with one finger and take off the battery cover in the direction of the arrow (1).
Working with the Tablet PC b 2 ► Pull on the pulling aid (b) and lift the battery out of the battery compartment in the direction of the arrow (2). Installing the battery 1 ► Position the battery at the edge of the battery compartment and insert the battery in the battery compartment (1).

Working with the Tablet PC Using the power-management features Battery Power The Tablet PC uses less power when the power management features are enabled. You will then be able to work longer when using the battery before having to recharge it. Power efficiency is increased and environmental pollution reduced. By choosing the best power options, you can make significant savings and at the same time help protect the environment. ► Select the power management functions in your Control Panel.
Working with the Tablet PC Inserting the memory card 2 1 ► Open the slot cover (1). ► Carefully slide the memory card into the slot (2). The label must be facing upward. Do not apply any force, otherwise the delicate contact surfaces could be damaged. ► Close the slot cover.
Working with the Tablet PC Removing the memory card Memorycard To avoid any loss of data, always follow the correct procedure for removing the card (see the documentation for your operating system). ► Open the slot cover. 1 3 2 ► Press the edge of the memory card so that the memory card jumps (1) slightly out of the slot. ► Pull the memory card out of the slot in the direction of the arrow (2). ► Close the slot cover (3).
Working with the Tablet PC SIM card (optional) A SIM Card (Subscriber Identity Module) is a chip card which is inserted in a mobile telephone or Tablet PC and, together with an integrated LTE module (optional), enables access to a mobile radio network. Please follow the instructions supplied by the provider when handling the SIM card. If you do not feel the SIM card engage as you insert it, use a pointed object to insert the SIM card.
Working with the Tablet PC Wireless LAN / Bluetooth / LTE (optional) / NFC radio components The installation of radio components not approved by Fujitsu will invalidate the certifications issued for this device. Switching the wireless components on and off The radio components are switched on and off via the corresponding functions of the operating system. ► To switch radio components on and off individually, select Settings – Change PC settings – Network – Airplane mode.

The network cable is not included in the delivery scope. This type of cable can be obtained from a specialist dealer.

Accessories for your Tablet PC (optional) Your multifunctional cradle / your charging cradle (optional) Your charging cradle is a device with which you can quickly charge your Tablet PC. As well as providing rapid charging, your multifunctional cradle is a device which helps you to quickly connect your Tablet PC to your peripheral devices, such as a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. You only need to dock the Tablet PC in order to work with your peripheral devices.

Accessories for your Tablet PC (optional) Connecting the Tablet PC to the cradle If the Tablet PC is connected to the cradle, you must connect the mains adapter to the cradle. cradle 1 2 4 3 ► Open the docking port cover on the Tablet PC and keep it slightly pulled back to facilitate the docking process. ► Position the Tablet PC so that it lies on the surface of the tray on the cradle. ► Press the Tablet PC in the direction of the arrow (1) onto the cradle until you feel it engage on the connector.
Accessories for your Tablet PC (optional) Disconnecting the Tablet PC from the cradle It is possible to separate the Tablet PC from the cradle during operation. Anyway we recommend that you switch the Tablet PC off first or that you execute the appropriate undocking function provided by the operating system. ► Switch off the Tablet PC. 2 1 ► Keep the release pressed (1). ► Lift the Tablet PC from the cradle in the direction of the arrow (2), while holding the lower area of the cradle.

Accessories for your Tablet PC (optional) Rugged frame (optional) When using the rugged frame together with a cradle variant (optional), you must first remove the adapter from the cradle before you can connect the Tablet PC in the rugged frame to the cradle, see "Adapter for the cradle", Page 44 1 2 2 ► Position the Tablet PC on the lower part of the rugged frame (1) as shown. ► Place the upper part onto the lower part (2) as shown.

Keep the screws out of the reach of children. Do not shake the device too much when you hold it by the hand strap, otherwise it could fall down.
Accessories for your Tablet PC (optional) ► Apply the covering stickers in the openings as shown (2). ► Position the spacers between the Tablet PC and the hand strap (3). ► Put the hand strap in position on the Tablet PC (4). Make sure that the screw holes of the hand strap and the Tablet PC line up exactly above one another. ► Secure the hand strap with the screws (5).
Accessories for your Tablet PC (optional) Shoulder strap (optional) The shoulder strap kit includes the following components: Shoulder strap with 2 brackets, 2 screws of type M2.5x8 and 2 spacers. • • Use a suitable tool of the correct size when fitting the screws. Make sure that the openings in the shoulder strap and the screw holes of the Tablet PC line up exactly above one another. ► Position the spacers (3) on the screw holes. ► Secure the shoulder strap with the screws (4).
Security functions Security functions Securityfunctions Your Tablet PC has several security features that you can use to secure your system from unauthorised access. This chapter explains how to use each function, and what the benefits are. Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password, you may be locked out and unable to access your data. Therefore, please note the following information: • • Back up your data on external data carriers at regular intervals.
Security functions Configuring password protection in BIOS Setup Utility Before using the various options for password protection in the BIOS Setup utility to increase data security, please observe the following: Make a note of the passwords and keep them in a safe place. If you forget your supervisor password you will not be able to access your Tablet PC. Deletion of the password is not covered by your warranty and a charge will be made for assistance.
Security functions Inserting the SmartCard Do not use force when inserting and removing the SmartCard. Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the SmartCard reader. ► Turn the Tablet PC over. ► Push the SmartCard into the SmartCard reader with the chip facing downwards.
Connecting external devices Connecting external devices Under all circumstances, please observe the safety notes provided in the "Important notes", Page 12 chapter before connecting or disconnecting any devices to or from your Tablet PC. Always read the documentation supplied with the device you wish to connect. Never connect or disconnect cables during a thunderstorm. Never pull at a cable when disconnecting it. Always grasp the plug.
Connecting external devices Connecting USB devices (Tablet PC or multifunctional cradle) USBports Do not connect any external devices to the micro USB port, this port is only used for the power supply for the Tablet PC. On the USB ports, you can connect external devices that also have a USB port (e.g. a DVD drive, a printer, a scanner or a modem). USB devices are hot-pluggable. This means you can connect and disconnect devices while your operating system is running. USB 1.

The internal loudspeakers are disabled.
Settings in BIOS Setup Utility Settings in BIOS Setup Utility BIOS SetupUtility System Setup Configuration,BIOSSetupUtility Hardwareconfiguration settings,BIOSSetupUtility configuration To navigate in the BIOS Setup Utility, you have to use an external USB keyboard. The BIOS Setup Utility allows you to set the system functions and the hardware configuration for the Tablet PC. When it is delivered, the Tablet PC is set to factory default settings. You can change these settings in BIOS Setup Utility.
Troubleshooting and tips Troubleshooting and tips Fault Tips Troubleshooting Follow the safety notes in the "Safety/Regulations" manual when connecting or disconnecting cables. If a fault occurs, try to correct it as described. If you fail to correct the problem, proceed as follows: ► Make a note of the steps and the circumstances that led to the fault. Also make a note of any error messages displayed. ► Switch the Tablet PC off. ► Please contact the Hotline/Service Desk.
Troubleshooting and tips Help if problems occur Should you encounter a problem with your computer that you cannot resolve yourself: ► Note the ID number of your device. The ID number is found on the type rating plate on the back or underside of the casing. ► For further clarification of the problem, contact the Service Desk for your country (see the Service Desk list or visit the Internet at "http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/contact/servicedesk/ServiceDeskNumber_Int.asp").
Troubleshooting and tips The display on the Tablet PC’s touchscreen is difficult to read. Touchscreen Cause Reflected glare Troubleshooting ► Move the Tablet PC into a different position. ► Increase the brightness of the screen. The external monitor remains blank Monitor Cause Monitor is switched off. Power saving has been activated (monitor is blank). Brightness is set to dark. Despite this, the wireless connection to a network does not work. Troubleshooting ► Switch the radio component on (see "Switching the wireless components on and off", Page 39). ► Check whether the radio connection is switched on via the software.

Error messages displayed by the operating system or programmes are described in the relevant documentation.
