Security functions
Securityfunctions
Your Tablet PC has several s ecurity features that you can use to secure your
system from unauthorised access.
This chapter explains how to use each function, and what the bene fits are.
Please rem ember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your passw ord,
you may be locked out and unable to access your data. T here fore,
please note the following information:
• Back up your data on external data c arriers at regular intervals.
• Some security functio
ns need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and ke
ep them in a safe place.
If you forget your passwords you will need to contact the our Service
Desk. Deletion or re setting of passwords is not covere d by your warran ty
and a charge will be made for assistance.
Using the security lock (cradle only)

Your cradle (optional) is equipped with a security device for a Ken sington lock cable. You
can use the Kensington lock cable, a s turdy steel cable, to protect your c radle against
theft. The Kensington lock cable is available as an accessory.

device on your cradle.
Configuring password protection in BIOS Setup Utility
Before using the various options for password protection in the BIOS Setup utility
to increase data security, please observe the following:
Make a note o f the passwords and keep them in a safe place. If you forget your
supervisor password you will not be able to access your Tablet PC. Deletion of the
password is not covered by your warranty and a charge will be made for assistance.
Password protection
Your p
assword can be up to 32 characters long and can contain letters, nu m bers and
spec
ial characters. A distinction is made between upper and lower case.
When
using special characters, please keep in mind that they depend o n
the c
ountry v ersion of the attached keyboard.
