Using the pen

You can use the pen on your Ta blet PC as an electronic writing implement to select items, and t o
navigate through programs on it. Programs that support handwriting recognition also allow you to
write characters directly on the screen with the pen. You can also use the pen as a drawing tool.
A pen te ther is available as an optional extra, w hich you can tie to the eyelet
on the pen and to the eyelet on the tablet PC.
Use only the pen provided with your Tablet PC. Do not use substitutes that
were not designed for your Tablet PC. Replace the pen tip if it is wo rn.
The warranty d oes not cover a scratched screen.
While writing, you should take care not to scratch the surface of the
display (e.g. with a wristwatch or bracelet).
The Tablet PC’s
pen is an electronic instrument that can be damaged if
used improperl
y. Handle the pen with care.
The following
list contains guidelines for proper pen handling:
Do not gestur
e with the pen.
Do not use the pen as a pointer.
Do not use th
e pen on surfaces other than the scre en of the Tablet PC.

the pen in its slot or to remov e it from i ts slot.
Never stor
e the pen with the tip bearing the weight of the pen (e.g. with the tip down
in a pen ho
lder). If the pen is stored with t he tip pointing down, this may have
an advers
e effect on the pen mechanism (particularly under high temperatures).
In this c
ase the pen tip may react as though it is constantly being pressed down.
To avoid
damage, the pen should be stored in the pen slot when not in use.
Thepencanbeinuenced by electromagnetic elds (cursor quivers or
jumps). There m ay be a few areas on the screen where the cursor quive rs
slightly in spite of pressing t he pen do wn rmly.
The screen responds to entries made with the tip of the nger or the pen when the tip
of the nger or the pen is in direct contact with the screen.
You can use the pen to run all functions for which you would otherwise use a mouse.
