Security / screen
security
Screen security: You may wish to
lock your Tablet PC to prevent
unauthorised access. If a scree
n lock was set up, the screen locks
automatically when your Table
t PC switches to sleep mode.
There are the following option
s for the screen lock:
Move finger
Offers no protection. You d
o however reach the home screen quickly or can
open the camera immediate
ly with a stroking m o veme nt. To unlock and
return to the home screen ,

Pattern
Offers minimal protect
ion. The locking can be overridden b y a simple
pattern with the finger.
PIN
Requires four or more
digits; longer PINs are generally more secure.
Password
At least four or mor
e characters are required. The best security is offered
by a pa ssword with 8
characters, consisting of digits, letters and special
characters and whi
ch does not contain any easy to guess words or phrases.

n
You c an enter a te
xt su ch as name and telephone n umber via the ow ner
information; t
hese will then be displayed on the locked screen.
Securit / encryption You can encrypt all the data on your Tablet PC: Google accounts, application
data, music and other media, downloaded information etc. Encryption offers
additional protection if your Tablet PC is stolen and it may be required or
recommended in some companies.
If there is encryption however, every time your Tablet PC is switched o n you
have to enter a num eric PIN or a password. Please note that this must be
the same password or the same PIN that you have used to lock the screen.
A separate password cannot be set up.
Warning: An encryption is irreversible. The only way to remove an
encryption is to reset your Tablet PC to the factory settings.
Settingupencryption
Contact your system administrator before you set up encryption. In many
cases, the PIN or the password for the encryption is m anaged by the
system administrator. B efore you enab le encrypt ion, make the fo llowing
preparations:
► Enter a PIN or a password for the screen locking.
► Connect your Tablet PC with the mains power system.
► Plan for about one hour for the encryption process: The encryption
process must not be interrupted; an interruption will cause you to lose
some or all data.
