SATA RAID is not supported by VMWare
SAS Configuration
you can choose between three different SAS controllers for the Base Unit:
- LSI 1064e / 2008 based Modular RAID 0,1 (IME)
- LSI 2108 based Modular RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6, 60
if you want to use SAS harddisks one Controller is required
