The PRIMERGY Blade Ecosystem provide high performance and
maximum redundancy with minimum rack space, power
consumption and cabling effort. PRIMERGY BX600 S3 can be
equiped with up to ten Intel or AMD server blades, and are
excellently suited for consolidation projects and for front-and mid-
tier applications requiring enterprise-class availability, extreme
flexibility and power efficiency. Due to its versatile design the
system is ideal suited for smaller and mid market companies.

This storage blade for PRIMERGY BX600 offers an easy and cost
effective opportunity for server consolidation.
Rack and tower servers with high capacity of local hard disks are
operating primarily in the area of small and medium enterprises.
Very often it is essential having local access on large amounts of
data; this for example applies to the wide area of Computer Aided
Engineering (CAE), where smaller workgroups locally have to work
on and create very large models.
Operation within confined environments as file servers as well as
for Microsoft SharePoint Servers and Microsoft SQL Servers are
popular usage cases.
The PRIMERGY BX900 S1 is a rack unit that has an installed
height of 10U and accommodates 1 to 18 server blades and 1 to 6
storage blades. The energy-efficient Intel Nehalem Quad-Core
processors are used in the server blades. Ethernet, Fibre Channel
and Infiniband networks are accessed via 8 switch bays. Switches
from Cisco, Brocade and Emulex can be used. With its transfer
rate of 6.4 Gb/s, the midplane used is the fastest on the market.
100V and 200V power supplies are available. This hardware
platform is ideal for server consolidation and virtualizationin the
datacenter.
The PRIMERGY SX940 S1 Direct Attached Storage Blade Disk
can be used to extend the internal storage capacity of PRIMERGY
BX92x Server Blades. A maximum of four internal disk drives
greatly extends the maximum amount of disk storage of a Server
Blade. One Storage Blade occupies a Blade slot within the
PRIMERGY BX900 S1 system unit; it is positioned either on the
left or right to an adjacent BX92x Server Blade, or between the
two. The 1x 4 or 2x 2 disk drives of one SX940 S1 are driven by 1
or 2 integrated, highly functional SAS/RAID controllers with 512
Mbyte cache and BU. Each controller provides RAID levels 0, 1, 5
and 6. The connection to each Server Blade is realized via a
midplane link to the high performing PCIe x4 interfaces of each
Server Blades system board.
