Thismodelphonecontainsaradiotransmitter
andreceiver.Thismodelphoneisdesignedand
manufacturednottoexceedtheemissionlimits
forexposuretoradiofrequency(RF)energyas
setbytheFCCoftheU.S.Government.These
limitsarepartofcomprehensiveguidelinesand
establishpermittedlevelsofRFenergyforthe
generalpopulation.Theguidelinesarebasedon
standardsthatweredevelopedbyindependent
scientificorganizationsthroughperiodicand
thoroughevaluationofscientificstudies.
Theexposurestandardforwirelessmobile
phonesemploysaunitofmeasurementknown
astheSpecificAbsorptionRate(SAR).TheSAR
limitsetbytheFCCis1.6W/kg.TestsforSAR
areconductedusingstandardoperating
positionsasacceptedbytheFCCwiththe
phonetransmittingatitshighestcertified
powerlevelinalltestedfrequencybands.
AlthoughtheSARisdeterminedatthehighest
certifiedpowerlevel,theactualSARlevelofthe
phonewhileoperatingcanbewellbelowthe
maximumvalue.Thisisbecausethephoneis
designedtooperateatmultiplepowerlevelsso
astouseonlythepowerrequiredtoreachthe
network.Ingeneral,thecloseryouaretoa
wirelessbasestationantenna,thelowerthe
poweroutputlevelofthephone.
Beforeaphonemodelisavailableforsaletothe
public,itmustbetestedandcertifiedtoprove
totheFCCthatitdoesnotexceedthelimit
establishedbytheU.S.government-adopted
requirementforsafeexposure.Thetestsare
performedonpositionandlocations(for
example,attheearandwornonthebody)as
requiredbyFCCforeachmodel.Thehighest
