Preparing the notebook for use

Please read an d observe the relevant notes in "Im portant note s", Page 3
and in the manual for your radio components.
You must cha rge the battery an d install the application programmes before you
can work with the notebook. The operating system and drivers required are
preinstalled (only with Windows operating systems).
When not plugged into a mains outlet, the notebook ru ns on i ts built-in battery. You can
increase the battery’s life by enab ling the system’s energy saving functions.
If you use the notebook in a normal office situation, run it from the mains using the mains adapter.
Please refer to "
Connecting ex ternal devices", Page 46 for instructions on how to connect
external devices such as a mouse and a printer to the notebook.

► Unpack all the individual parts.
► Check the delivery for damage incu rred during transporta tion.
► Check whether the delivery conforms to the details in the delivery note.
Should you discover that the delivery does not correspond to the delivery
note, notify you r local sales outlet immediately.
Do not discard the original packing material of the devices. You may need the
packaging in the future if you need to transport your device.

Select a suitable location for the notebook before setting it up. Consider
the following points when selecting a location:
• Never place the notebook on a soft surface (e.g. carpeting, upholstered furniture,
bed). This can block the air vents and cause overheating and damage.
• Do not place the notebook on your legs for a long period of time. The underside
of the notebook heats up du ring normal operation. Prolonged contact with
the skin can become unpleasant or may even cause burns.
• Place the notebook on a stable, flat, nonslippery surface. Please note that
the rubber feet may mark certain types of surfaces.
• Never place the notebook and the mains adapter on a heat-sensitive s urface .
