9. Do not drive your Scooter in a confined space unless
the speed adjustment d ial is set low .

Do not turn suddenly at full speed, especially on uneven
or sloping ground.
11. Do not drive your Scooter where you cannot safely or
legally wa lk. Obey the Highway Code.
12. Do not drive your Scooter unless the seat is lock ed
into the driving position.
13. Do not drive your Scooter with the handlebar
adjustment lock, in the unlock ed position.
14. Do not drive your Scooter over deep, soft ter r ain (eg.
soft earth, deep grass, loose gravel, snow).
15. Do not drive when under the influence of alcohol or
certain drugs wh ich may impair your safety .

A void climbing or descending hi gh k erbs, you may
ground your chassis and fall over .

Alw a ys approach obstacles “straight on ” and at slow
speed.
18. Alw a ys stop fully before ch anging direction (for war d or
reverse).

20. Alw a ys proceed carefully wh ile riding, especially as you
approach the downgrade of a ramp.
21. Alw ays avoid unev e n surfaces.
22. Alw a ys consult your physic ian or a therapist if in doubt
about your ability to operate a Scooter .

T ransport - Do not sit on your Scooter while it is
in a moving vehicle. Always strap down your
Richmond then transfer to the vehicle seat.
24. The batteries fitted to your Richmond are m a intenance
free and do not require topping up with distilled wa ter .
Do not attempt to remove the safety valves situated
in the top of the battery . F ailur e to observe this
warning
will invalidate your bat tery guarantee.
25. Do not drive your Scooter through deep w a ter or
clean with a high pr e ssu re hose.
26. Do not drive your Scooter through sea sand or sea
wa ter , this is very cor rosive. Alw ays wash salt splashing
from the m e tal parts of your Scooter with hot so apy
wa ter
as soon as possible.
Please remember you are a motorise d pedestrian and
must
observe all ru les and regulations of other
pedes trians wherever possible. Y ou r Scooter has not
been designed for use on normal r oads, except for
cr ossing between pavement s and where a pavement is
not available.

Y our Scooter is delivered in a stro ng tri-wall
carton. When unpacking the carton, first remove all of the
sharp metal staples which are located in the top. Carefully
dispose
of the staples to avoid injur y . R emove all packing
materials, avoid usi ng sharp instruments as this may damage
the Scooter . Carefully remove the Scoot er from the carton; to
minimise damage to the Scooter and the operator , two people
should
be used for this operation.
Safely dispose of all packaging materials, your local waste
disposal authority can advise you on this procedure.
Y our Scooter is delivered fully assembled, fitting the two
batteries and the seat assembly together with so me
minor adjustments are detailed on the fol lowing pages, under
‘ Operating your FR168-3P/4P ’. A full technical
specification for your Scooter can be found at the rear of
this m a nual.
A great deal of thought and consultation has gone into the
