If your F reerider does not slow down or behaves
erratically:
1  T u rn off the power ‘ o n ’ k e y switch 
2  Inform your authorised F reerider dealer

Warning: If you find for any reason your Scooter does not
reduce speed when you let go of the for ward-reverse speed
lever (Fig
9, page 9]  Switch your Scooter ‘ off ’ with the on/off
k e y

The parking brak e will activate immediately and
stop your Scooter  Beware the scooter will stop very
suddenly , brace yourself wit h the handlebars , sit back in
your
seat

Warning: This operation should only be carried out in an
emergency; continual
use of this facility will damage the
drive
transmission and motor brake.
Inform your authoris ed F r eerider dealer before using your
machine again.
Warning: If you feel for any reason that your Scooter is not
driving cor rectly or making an unusual noise, stop using the
machine Be safe , contact your F reerider dealer , he will be
able to advise you 

INFORMA TION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The speed controller system incorporates a sophisticated
micro - processor design (Fig 37] It is located under the rear
cover
of your Scooter  The in-built micro -controller
continually monitors the FR168-3P/4P Scooter ’s systems
to ensure safe and reliable operation 

When
the batter y voltage is low , the ‘status’ indicator light
situated on the control console (a green light positioned ne xt
to the batter y state indicator meter (Fig 8 - 4, page 8] will
flash slowly as a warning to recharge your batteries  If the
‘speed
controller ’ detects a fault the green light will flash rapidly ,
with the number of flashes indicating the nature of the fault
F o r e xample, the controller will not operate if the speed
thumb lever (wig-wag] is not in the zero speed position (Fig
9, page 9] with the Scooter switched ‘ o n
’

will
be allowed to operate normally once again 
If your Scooter is turned ‘ o n ’ but not operated for a set
period of time (15 minutes appro x ] the speed controller
system will automatically turn itself ‘ off ’ to conser ve valuable
batter y energy  Y ou will hear three ‘bleeps’ when it is
switching off  It can be turned on again by turning the on/off
switch to ‘ off ’, and then to ‘ o n ’ again 
A reversing buzzer is provided for when you are driving in a
reverse direction  This is an important safety feature to mak e
other people aware of your change of direction 
F A UL T D IAGNOSIS
F aults with the main speed controller are rare  Most faults on
powered vehicles are associated with wiring or mis-
connections due
to poor maintenance or incor rect installation
of connectors when assembling the Scooter after
transportation in a car 
If your Scooter should fail to operate you will be assisted in
diagnosis and locating the area of the fault by obser ving the
number
of flashes emitted from the ‘green ’ status light on
your control
console
If your Scooter fails to operate and the green status light
is not illuminated, first check the points aforementioned
under
‘F A U L T FINDING ’
If your green status indicator light is flashing, first switch your
Scooter to ‘ off ’ and back to ‘ o n ’ again to see if the problem
will
clear

If the ‘status’ light continues to flash and your
Scooter will not drive, refer to the ‘F A U L TS CODE’ on
page 32 and tak e the appropriate remedial action as advised
in the ‘comments’ column  If in doubt consult the dealer from
whom you pur chased your F reerider Scooter 
