This section defines or identifies technical terms, abbreviations, and acronyms used
throughout this document.
100BASE-TX IEEE 802.3u specification for 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet over two airs of Category 5 or
better UTP cable.
10BASE-T IEEE 802.3 specification for 10 Mbps Ethernet over two pairs of Category 3 or better UTP
cable.
Administrator
An administrator performs the service of maintaining a network. In the case of this
Router, the person who sets up the Router and makes changes to the settings.
Authentication is the process to verify the identity of a client requesting network access.
Base Station A WIMAX service provider’s equipment that is installed at a fixed location to provide
network connectivity for subscriber stations within a defined service area.
Client A computer on the network that uses the services of the Router, such as the automatic
DHCP server.
CPE Customer Premise Equipment is communications equipment that resides on the
customer's premises.
