1 Introduction
odes) that fasten the board inside the housing can be glued
to the flap lid by a few drops of all-purpose glue (if nec-
essary). All-purpose glue is also suitable to fix the wires
between coil and board inside the housing. Adhesive tape is
not as well suited for this job. Components and wires that
wobble in operation lead to wrong results.
Carefully attaching
the search coil
The metal detector comes with a prefabricated search
coil. It has to be glued to the bottom inside the flip pack. It is
imperative to fix the loops of the coil additionally with glue
so that they do not move relative to each other when the
metal detector is operated (see page 57).
Carefully soldering
in the components
Two LEDs and a 4-pin header have to be soldered to
the preassembled circuit board. Make absolutely sure of
the positioning (mounting direction, board side) and polarity
for these components before you solder them in. The lead
at the flattened side of the LED housing has to be connected
to the contact marked “-” at the soldering pad. The circuit
board has plated-through bores. Without adequate tools,
it is very difficult to remove soldered components without
damages.
