Chapter 12 Accessibility
Foxit PDF Editor provides accessibility features to give users with disabilities (such as
visually impaired people) greater access to information and technology. With
commands in the Accessibility tab on the ribbon and the panels related to
accessibility in the navigation pane, you can check the accessibility of PDFs, fix
accessibility issues, edit document structure, and set accessibility preferences to make
PDFs and the setup more accessible.
Accessibility Check and Fixes
A document is accessible if it can be used by people with disabilities, such as visually
impaired people. Foxit PDF Editor allows users to evaluate the accessibility of your
documents and identify areas that may be in conflict with Foxit’s interpretations of
referenced guidelines, create accessibility report, view the Full Check results, and fix
accessibility problems.
Check Accessibility with Full Check
Use the Full Check command to check whether a PDF is compliant with accessibility
standards of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. You can choose which
kinds of accessibility items to check for and how to view the results.
To check accessibility with the Full Check command, please do as below:
1. Choose Accessibility > Full Check.
2. In the Accessibility Checker Options dialog box, select options you need to check
for. See also the Accessibility Issues.
3. In Report Options section, check Create Accessibility Report option if needed to
save the results as an HTML file and specify the save path. You can also check
Attach report to document to add the accessibility report as an attachment of
the PDF document.
4. Show this dialog when the Checker starts: If this option is checked, the
Accessibility Checker Options dialog box will pop up whenever you run the Full
Check. Otherwise, the dialog box won’t appear. If the dialog is hidden, go to File >
Preferences > Accessibility and change the setting to show the dialog.
5. Click Options button and specify the page range to do a full check.
6. Click Start Checking.
