This layer is very simple: if the Grid is on, you will see a grid of vertical and
horizontal lines in the edit Window. If snap-to-grid is on (which it is by
default) any node that you move will snap to the gridlines.
You can adjust the grid frequency on the Glyph page of the Options dialog
box (Tools menu):
