Installation Guide
Focal Point Room Kit installation Instructions
GENERAL
Finish the crown, corners and connectors with a latex or oil-based paint. DO NOT use lacquer.
TOOLS NEEDED
Cordless drill; hand or miter saw; paint and brush; tape measure; step ladder; caulk and caulk gun.
1. Paint the moulding and the decorative accessories PRIOR to installation. Quick Clips
TM
 allow you to install
the crown moulding without nails so you won’t need to fill, sand and repaint nail holes after the
installation.
2. Install the Moulding Mates
TM
corner component (with the stem) in each corner using 1-5/8” drywall
screw. Hold it tight to the ceiling and firmly against the wall, and screw it into the wall through the center
of the slots. DO NOT INSTALL THE LARGE DECORATIVE CORNERS YET.
3. Measure from each corner to locate the mid point of the wall(or on a longer wall to locate all of the points
in which the moulding will join). Mark each location with a pencil, and install a Quick Clip
TM
 on the center.
The connector block will snap onto the Quick Clip
TM
.
4. Install the first clip approximately 8” from the corner component installed in step 2. Hold the clip tight to
the ceiling and screw it to the wall through the pilot hole with a #6 1-5/8” drywall screw(included in kit).
The pilot hole is positioned so that the screw will go into the top plate of the wall (no anchors required).
Screw the clip to the wall so that the top of the clip remains flush to the ceiling.
5. Repeat this process approximately every 10” to 12” until all the clips are installed. You do not need to
measure precisely for each clip. It is sufficient to “eyeball” 10” to 12” which makes the installation process
quickly.
6. Measure from the corner component on the tab that is up against the ceiling to the closest edge of your

mounted in the center of , or where your moulding will join if you are using more than two
pieces of moulding. Subtract 1/2” from this measurement to trim your moulding. If you are using the
Dentil profile adjust your cut lines to give you the maximum distance possible from the edge of the
moulding to the closest Dentil. If you can’t avoid having a dentil interfere with the installation of the
Moulding Mate
TM
cover simply clearance out the cover with a small file.
7. Start the moulding installation approximately 1/4” from the small corner component piece installed in
step 2. Attach the crown to the clips by placing the bottom bedding edge of the crown flat to the wall
slightly below the clips. Slide the crown upward until the bottom groove on the moulding back engages
the bottom of the clip. Tap the moulding in the center to fully engage both the top and the bottom of the
clip.
8. Proceed around the room securing the crown to the clips as described above.
9. Moulding Mates
TM
are designed to snap OVER the crown. Tap the decorative corners onto the previously
installed corner posts. If the Moulding Mates
TM
accessory does not fit tightly over the moulding, sand or
file the back of the accessory at the interference point until it fits evenly at all points of contact. Take time
to check the fit by matching the Moulding Mate
TM
component to the moulding profile cut offs to avoid
snapping the Moulding Mates
TM
into it’s holder repeatedly.
10. Caulk along the ceiling and in the joints as needed to fill gaps.
