Owner’s Manual 2016

26
1. Ensure that the procedures in Section 17.2. “Cleaning and Lubrication
Before Firing” have been carried out.
2. Load a cartridge into the chamber as detailed in Section 14.3.
3. With a cartridge in the chamber and, if so equipped, the manual safety
lever in the off safe position, you need only take aim at your target and
squeeze the trigger to fire the pistol.
4. After a cartridge has been fired, the slide moves rearward, ejects the
empty case, cocks the striker, then returns forward loading a cartridge
from the magazine into the chamber. You may continue to fire the pistol
until the magazine is empty by pulling the trigger to fire each cartridge.
When firing is no longer imminent, if your pistol is so equipped,
immediately place the manual safety lever in the on safe position as
described in Section 8.1.
After the last cartridge in the magazine is fired, the slide
stop will engage the slide and automatically hold the slide in
the open or rearward position (Figure 14).
If firing is no longer imminent and you are finished shooting,
remove the magazine and close the slide by pushing down on the
ambidextrous slide stop or pulling the slide rearward to disengage the
slide stop and allow the slide to
return to the forward position. If
your pistol is so equipped, place
the manual safety lever in the on
safe position as described in
Section 8.1.
For law enforcement and military
personnel, refer to the procedures
of your department on carrying a
loaded firearm.
