Owner’s Manual 2016
17
On FNS pistols so equipped, these levers can be conveniently operated
by a left- or right-handed shooter. The levers are serrated for positive
manipulation. Unless shooting is imminent, the manual safety lever should
remain in the on safe position.
8.1. MANUAL SAFETY LEVER FUNCTION
• On Safe: To place the pistol in the on safe position, raise the manual
safety lever up with your thumb (Figure 5) until it clicks into place
and the red warning dot is completely covered.
• Off Safe: To place the safety in the off safe or ready-to-fire position,
press the manual safety lever down, exposing the red warning dot.
The red warning dot appears on both sides of the frame (Figure 6).
DO NOT DEPEND ON THE RED COLOR ALONE TO INDICATE
YOUR FIREARM’S SAFETY STATUS. TIME, EXPOSURE TO
THE ELEMENTS, AND THE ABRASIVE ACTION OF CLEANING
AGENTS CAN ERASE IT. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS
WARNING COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
With a cartridge in the chamber and the magazine inserted, the pistol
is now ready for firing with a pull of the trigger.
