Operator’s Manual Addendum (46-100030, 56509)

We are pleased that you have chosen an FN M249S PARA semi-automatic belt-fed rifle. The FN M249S PARA shares

the same reliability, durability, accuracy and many of the operating features as the standard FN M249S. However, it has

additional special features such as a shorter barrel and collapsible buttstock. This addendum will cover the operation of

those specific features where they differ from the standard FN M249S. The common operations and features are covered

in the FN M249S Operator’s Manual supplied with your FN M249S

PARA.

WARNING

Before inspecting or making any adjustments on the FN M249S

PARA, fully read and understand completely the

Operator’s Manual as well as this Addendum. Clear the rifle, ensuring there is no ammunition present in the rifle

as explained in Section 17 of the Operator’s Manual, place the safety in the safe position as explained in Section

10 and insert the Manual Bolt Lock Device as explained in Section 12. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe

direction. Failure to follow these warnings may result in serious injury or death.

The FN M249S PARA it fitted with a shorter barrel assembly that has a welded muzzle device. Its legal barrel length, with the fixed muzzle device is 16.1 inches. Rifled barrel length is equivalent to 14.7 inches without the muzzle device length added. NOTE: The PARA muzzle device is permanently welded in place. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IT. Attempting to do so will cause permanent damage to the barrel assembly, may create an unsafe firearm, may violate federal regulations and will void you rifle’s warranty.

Figure 3 Figure 4 To extend the PARA buttstock assembly if it is in the stowed position: 1. Grab the buttstock frame at the buttplate and pull it firmly and fully the rear. See Figure 5. 2. Once extended, rotate the buttstock frame clockwise 90 degrees (as viewed from behind the rifle) and into the vertical position. It will lock into the deployed position on its own. See Figure 6. Figure 7 Figure 8 3. Use a plastic bristled brush and a military-grade cleaner/lubricant to remove dirt and debris from the locking mechanism on the mounting block. See Figure 8. Excess lubricant should be wiped away from moving parts as it may attract dirt and grit. 4. Use minimal military-grade lubricant on the moving parts of the buttstock assembly. The frame rods should be kept free of lubricant. For adverse conditions, lubricate in accordance with Section 25.10 of the Operator’s Manual. 4.
