3. Thread the suppressor or muzzle
device on to the barrel and
tighten it following the
manufacturers
recommendations. Check to
ensure that the bore of the
suppressor aligns with the bore
of the barrel and nothing blocks
the path of the bullet
(Figure 74).
The pistol can now be fired with the
suppressor or muzzle device installed. If a suppressor is attached to the
barrel without a Nielsen device, the pistol can be safely fired but will not
cycle properly.
NOTICE: FN is not responsible for damage to a suppressor or muzzle device
when used on the FN 509 or for damage caused to the pistol due to the
installation of a suppressor or muzzle device.
ALWAYS ENSURE THAT A SUPPRESSOR IS THREADED ON
TIGHTLY WHEN THE PISTOL IS FIRED TO AVOID DAMAGE TO
THE SUPPRESSOR OR PISTOL.
11.7 REMOVING THE MAGAZINE RELEASE
NOTE: The magazine release should not be removed for normal cleaning and
maintenance.
NOTE: The frame assembly does not need to be disassembled to remove the
magazine release.
1. Press up on the magazine catch spring through the magazine well
using a punch or similar tool on the leg of the spring that protrudes
toward the magazine well. Pushing the leg of the spring in toward the
frame and under the body of the magazine release.
