6.3 UNLOADING
WHILE UNLOADING THE PISTOL, ALWAYS KEEP THE MUZZLE
POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION AND KEEP YOUR FINGERS
AWAY FROM THE TRIGGER. IF YOUR PISTOL IS EQUIPPED
WITH A MANUAL SAFETY, THE SAFETY SHOULD BE IN THE
ENGAGED POSITION. WHEN UNLOADING, IT IS VITAL THAT
YOU REMOVE THE MAGAZINE FROM YOUR PISTOL SO THAT
A CARTRIDGE IS NOT CHAMBERED WHEN YOU CLOSE THE
SLIDE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE WARNINGS COULD
RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
1. Press the magazine release and remove the magazine. If the magazine
does not drop out of the pistol, pull on the magazine base plate while
pressing the magazine release (Figure 12).
2. If the slide is closed, pull the slide back and eject the cartridge from
the chamber. Lock the slide to the rear by pressing the slide stop up
and allowing the slide to rest against the slide stop retaining it to the
rear (Figure 13).
