Firewalls
If you want to communicate with the Recorder through a firewall, you must setup the
firewall to allow communication. Contact your network administrator if you have
problems with firewall settings.
Table 3-1 lists the ports used for communication between the Recorder and PQ Analyze.
If a connection is to be established where a router or gateway with a firewall is involved,
configure the device as shown.

Protocol Port Description Firewall
UDP 30000
This port is used for listening
to Search Devices requests
from PQ Analyze. It's also
used during Firmware
Updates. This port is “pinged”
periodically to see if the
Recorder is available.
If the Recorder is located behind a firewall,
then this port has to be opened only if a
Firmware Update should occur. Search
Devices uses broadcasts and broadcasts
normally do not pass routers/firewalls.
TCP 30000
This port is used for receiving
commands from PQ Analyze.
If the Recorder is located behind a firewall,
then this port has to be opened for
communication with the Recorder.
TCP 30001
This port is used for receiving
firmware updates.
If the Recorder is located behind a firewall
then this port has to be opened only if
Firmware Update should occur.
TCP 30002
This port is used for binary
data transfers.
If the Recorder is located behind a firewall,
then this port must be opened only if data
should be retrieved from the Recorder.
TCP 22 (ssh)
This port is used for
ssh/advanced settings.
If the Recorder is located behind a firewall,
then this port must be opened only if menu
entry Advanced Settings of the software
should be used.
ICMP
Echo
Request/Reply
This protocol is used by PQ
Analyze during connection
establishment.
If the Recorder is located behind a firewall,
then this port must be opened for
communication with the Recorder.
Alternate method: start the program with
the command line parameter /noping.
