Creating the Direct Serial Connection in Windows Vista
Notes
• A direct serial connection and a modem connection cannot be set
up on the same serial port at the same time. Please uninstall all
modems that use the serial port.
• The direct serial connection uses the PPP protocol.
If during the installation process you are asked for permission to continue, click on
Continue. This may happen more often and the text may vary.

To create a direct serial connection, you must install a “dummy” modem, set the correct
baud rate, and create a network connection. You may have to reboot your computer to
have the correct baud rate activated (this is true in Windows Vista Business SP1).
