Removal:
1) Raise vehicle and support securely with stands. To ease the removal of the stock system,
spray a penetrating lubricant onto the rubber hangers.
2) Remove the stock exhaust system from the slip connections just behind the catalytic
converters back by loosening the two bolts at each of these two clamped connections. Using a
13mm socket, unbolt the body brace between the catalytic converters and the muffler assembly. (Put
this brace and the four bolts aside for reinstallation after the Flowmaster system is installed.)
3) Support the rear of the system with a stand and slide the hangers on the mufflers out of the
rubber mounts on the vehicle. With the help of an assistant, slide the system back off of the head
pipes and then forward to remove from the vehicle. Leave the stock headpipe clamps in place as
they will be used with the new system.
Installation:
1) Before installing anything, prep the clamps supplied in the hardware kit by removing the nuts,
and applying a thick lubricant such as white grease or anti-seize to the threads.
2) Place Scavenger pipe assembly #26271S onto the back of the stock head pipes (make sure
the Flowmaster embossing is facing the ground). Level and center the assembly in the drive line
tunnel and support with a stand. Tighten the stock clamps enough to hold, but still allow for
adjustment. Reinstall the body brace using the bolts removed in Step 2 (make sure there is
clearance between the Scavenger pipe and the cross-member).
Note: On Auto Transmission cars, there is a ¼” diameter metal vent tube for the transmission that is
routed above the right side pipe. It will need to be gently bent up closer to the body to clear the
Scavenger pipe.
3) Place a supplied 3band clamp onto the slip-fit of each of the two intermediate pipes #26273S
and #26272S. Place the right intermediate pipe #26273S onto the right scavenger outlet and tighten
the clamp enough to hold, but still allow for adjustment. Repeat for the left intermediate pipe.
