Always mix a small amount of PENETROL with the paint you are using to determine compatibility.
Adding to Oil or Alkyd-Based Paint or Primers: Stir and mix oil or alkyd-based paint thoroughly. As paint begins to set up too fast or
“drag”, stir in PENETROL. Start with approximately one pint (473 mL) PENETROL per gallon (3.78 Liters) of paint. If paint is thick, or in
extreme hot or cold temperatures, more PENETROL may be added, up to 2.5 pints (1.18 Liters) per gallon (3.78 Liters) of paint.
Faux Finishing: PENETROL, mixed directly into oil or alkyd-based paint, will improve the brushability of your paint and flow and leveling
of the base coat. PENETROL keeps paint from drying too fast thus increasing the working time of your paint and glazes. Using an empty
container or dispensable cup as a measuring device, mix 3 volumes of oil or alkyd-based paint to 1 volume of PENETROL. The more PEN-
ETROL you add to the mixture (glaze) the more open time you will have and the more translucent the finish. Do not add too much condi-
tioner for vertical surfaces as the technique may cause the paint to sag or vanish.
Conditioning Bare or Rusted Metal: Remove loose rust, excess dirt, oil and grease. Be sure surface is dry. Saturate the metal with PEN-
ETROL. Allow 12-24 hours for drying. NOTE: For brass, copper, aluminum and chrome, scrub surface with fine steel wool soaked in PEN-
ETROL and polish with a clean rag.
Conditioning Fiberglass: Clean surface to be conditioned. Saturate a rag with PENETROL, wipe it on fiberglass surface. Buff surface
with a clean, soft cloth within 3-5 minutes.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. Contact the National Lead Information
Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
PRECAUTIONS
DANGER! COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID AND VAPOR. HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED. CAUSES RESPIRATORY TRACT AND
EYE IRRITATION. Inhalation of high concentrations of vapor may affect the central nervous system. Repeated exposure to high vapor concentrations may
cause irritation of the respiratory system and permanent brain and nervous system damage. High vapor concentrations can cause headaches, dizziness,
drowsiness and nausea and may lead to unconsciousness. Can enter lungs and cause damage. Keep away from heat and flame. Do not breathe vapor or
mist. Do not swallow. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Wash thoroughly after handling. Provide fresh air
ventilation during and after application and drying. Avoid the inhalation of dust, particulates, spray or mist arising from the application of this preparation. Use
personal protective equipment as required. DANGER - RAGS, STEEL WOOL OR WASTE SOAKED WITH FLOOD PENETROL MAY SPONTANEOUSLY
CATCH FIRE IF IMPROPERLY DISCARDED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH USE, PLACE RAGS, STEEL WOOL OR WASTE IN A SEALED WATER-FILLED
METAL CONTAINER. Note: These warnings encompass the product series. Prior to use, read and follow product-specific MSDS and label informa-
tion. FIRST AID: If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Call physician immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless directed
to do so by medical personnel. If in eyes, rinse with water for 15 minutes. Check for and remove any contact lenses. If on skin, rinse well with water. Wash
with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops. If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If experiencing respiratory symptoms call a POISON CENTER
or doctor/physician. Keep out of the reach of children. For workplace use, an MSDS is available from your retailer or by calling (412) 492-5555. EMERGENCY
SPILL INFORMATION: (412) 434-4515 (U.S.).
Do not add too much conditioner for vertical surfaces as the technique may cause the paint to sag or vanish.
