6.3.1.4.9 SSL
The SSL screen is used for configuring the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security
(TLS) protocol, which protects camera settings and username/password information. SSL/TLS is used,
in turn, by the HTTPS protocol for allowing secure IP connections between the camera and a web
browser over HTTP.
Note:
SSL is enabled from the Network > General screen (page 41).
In order to use HTTPS on the camera, an HTTPS certificate must be installed. The HTTPS certificate
can be obtained either by creating and sending a certificate request to a Certificate Authority (CA) or by
creating a self-signed HTTPS certificate as described below.
Note:
The self-signed certificate does not provide the same level of security as a CA-issued certificate.
To configure SSL settings
1. From the Method drop-down list, select one of the following: Self-Signed, Request, or Upload
Certificate. The default is NONE.
