Importantlocationconsiderationswheninstallingmultipleradarscannersonthesamevessel.
•Scannersshouldbemountedaboveeachother,verticallyseparatedbyatleast0.5m(1.6ft).This
appliestoallinstallationlocationsonthevessel.
•Multiplescannersshouldbemountedinawaythatminimizesinterferencebetweenthevertical
beamwidthsofthe2scanners.
•Inallcases,youshouldaimtoachieveasmuchphysicalseparationaspossible,tominimize
anypotentialinterference.
6.7VCM100locationrequirements
Whenselectingamountinglocationitisimportanttoconsideranumberoffactors.
Ventilation
•Ensurethatequipmentismountedinacompartmentofsuitablesize.
•Ensurethatventilationholesarenotobstructed.Allowadequateseparationofequipment.
Mountingsurface
Ensureequipmentisadequatelysupportedonasecuresurface.Donotmountunitsorcutholesin
placeswhichmaydamagethestructureofthevessel.
Cables
Ensuretheunitismountedinalocationwhichallowsproperroutingandconnectionofcables:
•Minimumbendradiusof100mm(3.94in)unlessotherwisestated.
•Usecablesupportstopreventstressonconnectors.
•ThemaximumlengthofcablebetweenthebatteryandtheVCM100shouldnotnormallyexceed
19.6ft.(6M).Allpowercablelengthsshouldbekeptasshortaspossible.
Wateringress
TheVCM100issplashproof,andsuitableformountingbelowdecksonly.
Electricalinterference
Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromdevicesthatmaycauseinterference,suchasmotors,
generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
Magneticcompass
MounttheVCM100atleast3ft(1m)awayfromamagneticcompass.
Locationrequirements
35
