TheoptimumheightfortheCycloneradarisalocationthatishighenoughabovethewaterlineto
givealongrangeline-of-sighttothehorizon,butnotsohighastobeadverselyaffectedbythe
vessel'spitchingandrolling.
Thescannermustalsobemountedwhereitis:
•Aboveheadheight.
•Easilyaccessible.
•Asnearaspossibletothevessel'scenterline.
•Onarigidandstableplatform,capableofsecurelysupportingthescannerunderseagoing
conditions.
•ForGPS,ensureunobstructedviewofthesky.Avoidlargestructuresabovetheantenna.
•Clearoflargeobjectssuchastheflybridge,largeenginestacks,searchlights,horns,mastsetc.
•Clearofheatandfumes.
•Atleast1m(3ft)fromamagneticcompassorotherscanners.
