Safe Operating Procedure
PPE Required
Operate in ventilated area as saws can produces toxic fumes Avoid operating in confined spaces like trenches
Petrol is very flammable so keep naked flames or ignition sources
away. Never start if petrol has been spilled
Beware of blade at all times, the blade moves extremely fast and
cause serious damage
Beware of slippery surfaces and trip hazards when using saw It is essential to wear hearing protection
Quickcuts can kickback and push back so beware and observe the
following
•Avoid cutting with the upper quarter or tip/nose of the blade
•Hold Quickcut very firmly, right hand on the rear handle
•Do not twist the chainsaw in a cut
•Always cut at full throttle
•Always guide the machine to the work piece
•Ensure the work piece is secure
•Set the deflector so debris is deflected away from the user
•Be careful when entering a previous cut
•Avoid plunge cuts
•Be aware of the cut closing on the blade as you cut
•Always use water with Diamond blades
•Do not use the side of the blade to grind or cut
Use the Quickcut saw only for sawing and do not use it for plying,
pushing or shovelling away items
Beware of kick back Correct Stance
Never work on a ladder Do not use quickcut above shoulder height or when stretching
Never use circular saw blades as the teeth can catch causing violent
kick backs
Ensure the blade being used suits the maximum spindle speed of the
machine
Never use with one hand Never use damaged blades
Never bend over the cutting wheel – keep face away from the blade
at all times
Always plan the cutting direction before starting and once started do
not change direction

For Electric Quickcut’s
•Always ensure the input lead has a current test tag (no older than 3 months) or have an electrician test and tag
•Always be aware of where the power cord is and do not cut or put anywhere near the chain blade
•Complete pre-start checklist
•Read Manufacturers Operation Manual (www.flexihire.com.au)
•Report any faults or damage to Flexihire 1300FLEXIHIRE
•Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery
•Do not operate equipment near pedestrians or people
•Do not operate without the appropriate PPE as detailed
•Do not operate equipment under the influence of drugs or alcohol
•Assess the immediate work area for any hazards
•Control or eliminate all the risks associated with the hazards
•Hazards to check for that may require risk control-

Operating Safety Instructions
•Refuelling – Do not smoke, or introduce ignition source, always turn
engine off and allow engine to cool first, relieve fuel pressure by
loosening cap slowly, wipe clean any fuel spills prior to re-start, If fuel
spilled on clothes change clothes, ensure cap is replaced & store fuel
vessel away from work area
•Do not breathe fuel vapour& replace cap securely after fuelling
•Do not operate engine without adequate ventilation
•Beware of hot surfaces on engine & other parts
