Check My Firmware
If you can boot your computer normally
1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen.
2. Select “About this Mac” from the drop-down menu.
3. From this new window, Click “System Report”.
a. This will open your Hardware Overview.
4. Find your BootROM version displayed toward the bottom of the list.
5. Compare your BootROM version to our chart.
a. If our chart doesn’t make sense, reach out to our team and we will be happy to
help.
6. If your firmware needs to be updated, you can find a simple guide on page 7.
If you cannot boot your computer normally
1. With your computer turned off, press your power button.
2. Immediately after step one, hold down COMMAND + R until a globe appears on your
screen.
3. Choose your internet connection and wait for your operating system to load.
a. This time will vary depending on your internet connection.
4. Go to your “Utilities” tab at the top of your screen and click “Terminal”.
5. In the Terminal Window, type the following command:
a. system_profiler SPHardwareDataType
6. Press ENTER (RETURN).
a. This will open your Hardware Overview.
7. Find your BootROM version displayed towards the bottom of the list.
