SMC Reset
If you have an iMac, Mac Mini, or Mac Pro
1. Disconnect the power cord.
a. Either from the computer of the AC outlet.
2. Wait 15 seconds.
3. Plug it back in.
4. Wait another 5 seconds.
5. Turn your computer back on.
If you have a portable Mac with non-removable batteries
1. Shut down and unplug your computer.
2. On the built-in keyboard, press and hold SHIFT + OPTION + CONTROL + POWER for 10
seconds.
3. Connect the power adapter.
4. Turn your computer on normally.
If you have a portable Mac with removable batteries
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Disconnect the power cord and remove the battery.
a. If you are unsure how to do this, please contact our support team.
3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
4. Put the battery back in.
5. Reconnect the power cord.
6. Turn on your computer normally.
PRAM/NVRAM Reset
1. Shut down your computer.
2. Turn on your computer and immediately hold down COMMAND + OPTION + P + R for 20
seconds.
a. If you see nothing but a gray screen that doesn’t change for several minutes,
don’t panic. Disconnect all USB devices (except your keyboard), hold down the
power button until your computer shuts off completely and then repeat step 2.
3. Let go and allow your computer to continue booting normally.
a. If you have an older Mac that chimes at boot, continue holding down the keys
until you hear a second startup chime.
4. Check the Startup Disk, Display, and Date & Time panes in your System Preferences to
make sure they’re set to your personal preferences.
