Sleep Crashing
1. With your computer on, open the Terminal application.
a. One can do this with either of these methods:
i. Open Finder -> go to Applications Folder -> go to Utilities Folder. Terminal
is in this folder.
ii. Use Spotlight (COMMAND + SPACEBAR), then search for Terminal.
2. Type the following command into the Terminal window:
a. Sudo pmset hibernate mode 0 standby 0
3. Press RETURN (ENTER).
a. You will be asked to enter your password.
b. You will be alerted about your changed in power consumption.
4. If you are using Mojave, Catalina, or a newer macOS, you need to input and additional
command into the Terminal window:
a. Sudo pmset autopoweroff 0
5. Press RETURN (ENTER).
6. Restart your computer.
If you want to be sure this worked
1. Type the following command into your Terminal window:
a. Pmset -g
2. This displays your computer’s battery and power settings.
a. If the commands were inputted correctly, there will be 0’s next to
“hibernatemode”, “standby”, and “autopoweroff”.
Drive Reformatting
1. Go to disk utility while booted from your USB installer.
2. Select the Fledging Feather SSD.
3. Hit “Erase” in the top-middle of the Disk Utility window.
a. If the drive won’t erase and reformat, try adding a partition to the drive and try
step 3 again.
4. Reformat the drive.
a. If you are using High Sierra:
i. Use MacOS Extended (Journaled) with GUID Partition Map.
b. If you are using Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur:
i. Use APFS with GUID Partition Map.
