Chapter 5: Connecting the Core Network C ables
5.2. Connecting to the Netw ork vi a E1
E1 conne ctions are made using cables connected to the Backhaul Access Panel (BAP) . Depending
on the spe cific configuration, the connectors m ay be BNC or S M Z.
1.
Locate the E1 connections on the front of the cabinet. See Figure 5-4.

Insert the first BN C or S MZ connectors into the leftmost connectors on the a ccess panel
which a re labeled “1”. Attach the cable out to the network to the top connector labeled
“OUT”. Attach the cable in from the network to the bottom connector labeled “IN”.
3.
Insert any additional connectors from left to right as you face the cabinet.
