4. When using a cutting attachment, connect it to the welding torch
handle. Hand-tighten the coupling nut, do not use a wrench.
(See Figure 11).
5. Select the required size and type of cutting tip. Inspect the tip
seating surfaces for damage.
WARNING
REMEMBER: The tip seating surfaces prevent premature
mixing of gases that can cause fires and explosions. DO
NOT use a tip that has damage on the tapered seats.
6. Inspect the preheat and cutting oxygen holes in the tip. Spatter can
stick on or in these holes. Remove the spatter with a tip cleaner.

7. Insert the correct tip for fuel gas being used. Tighten securely
to 20 ft. per Ibs. torque (27,1 Netwon-meters) (see Figure 12).
