8. If using a cutting attachment, open the oxygen control valve on
the welding torch handle completely. The preheat oxygen does
not adjust with this valve. Adjust it with the preheat oxygen
valve on the cutting attachment. Always keep the welding torch
oxygen valve fully open to supply the attachment with both
preheat and cutting oxygen.
9. Open the oxygen control valve. Depress the cutting oxygen lever.
Adjust the oxygen pressure according to the size and type of
tip used. See tip charts, Section 6.
10. Release the cutting oxygen lever. Close the oxygen control valve.
11. Open the fuel control valve. Adjust the fuel regulator to the
required pressure.
12. Close the fuel control valve.
WARNING
ALWAYS follow ALL safety procedures before lighting the torch.
NOTE
The following instructions cover the torch adjustment
procedures for acetylene only. Contact your gas supplier for
instructions on use of other fuel gases.
WARNING
When the cutting assembly is connected to the regulators and
the system has been shut down, the system MUST ALWAYS
be purged before using. Open the oxygen valve ½ turn. Allow
the gas to flow ten (10) seconds for tips up to Size 3, and
five (5) seconds for Sizes 4 and larger for each 25 feet of
hose in the system. Briefly depress the oxygen cutting lever
to purge. Close the oxygen valve. Purge the fuel system in
the same manner.
13. Open the fuel gas control valve about one-eighth turn. Ignite
the fuel gas with a spark lighter.
