3.06 PURGING THE SYSTEM
1. New hoses must be cleared before using. Refer to Section 3.03.
2. Connect the hoses to the torch handle and regulators. Firmly
tighten all connections with a wrench. Make sure the control
valves on the torch are closed.
3. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the proper use of regulators
when using regulators that were not supplied in this outfit.
4. Turn the pressure adjusting screw counterclockwise on both
regulators until there is no spring tension. SLOWLY open the
oxygen cylinder valve completely. Then, open the fuel cylinder
valve. If using LP type fuel gas, open the cylinder valve
completely. If using LP type fuel gas, open the cylinder valve
completely. If using acetylene, open the cylinder valve 3/4 of a
turn and no more than 1-1/2 turns.
5. Adjust both regulators to about 5 PSIG.
6. In a well-ventilated area, open the fuel valve for about five
seconds for each 25 feet of hose. Then, close this valve.
7. Open the oxygen valve for about five seconds for each 25 feet
of hose. Then, close this valve.
WARNING
Never open both fuel and oxygen control valves at the same time
when purging the system. A reverse flow of gas may occur.
