Efforts to make homes more energy efficient include
weather stripping, caulk sealants and moisture
barriers, which tighten the home’s envelope. When
a home suffocates with a lack of air, laundry dryers,
range hood fans and bathroom fans do not exhaust
as efficiently, taking more time to do their jobs and
wasting precious energy.
In most states, fresh air ventilation is required to
meet building codes for new construction or to
obtain energy tax credits. We recommend ventilation
delivered through the return air plenum of the
HVAC system to temper and evenly distribute the air
throughout the home on a regular schedule. For more
