a. EstablishcommunicationswithIBRviatheserialinterface(Seethesectiononcommunicatingwith
IBRviaCLI).
b. ConfirmthatanEthernetinterfaceisenabledandconnectedtothenetwork:
IBR101#showinterfaces
c. Iftheinterfaceisconnected,butnotenabled,executethefollowingcommands:
IBR101(config)#interfacegigabitethernet2
where2isusedasanexample(couldbe0,1,or2).
IBR101(config‐if‐ge2)#noshutdown
IBR101(config‐if‐ge2)#exit
IBR101(config)#exit
IBR101#showipinterfaces
Thefollowingisasampleoutput.
Intheoutputabove:
upmeanstheinterfaceisenabledandconnected;
downmeanstheinterfaceisenabled,butnotconnectedtoanotherdevice;and
disabledmeanstheinterfacemightnotbeconnected.
d. Ifthe
Ethernetinterfaceisconnectedandenabled,checkthatthedefaultgatewayisconfigured
andrespondstopings.
e. VerifyanyVLANsettingsonbothIBRandtheconnectingdevice.
f. IfanEthernetlinkisunexpectedlydown:
ChecktheEthernetcablewithasuitablecablecertifi er(e.g.,FlukeDTX1800,
orByte
BrothersRWC1000K).
CheckthatspeedandduplexsettingsonIBRmatchthoseontheswitchport.
