1.DESCRIPTION
TheFallTech®6'DuraTech™WebSRDisaself‐retractinglifelineforthoseworkingatheight.Atthetopoftheunit,aswivelingaluminumeyeprovidesan
attachmentpointforaself‐closingandself‐lockingconnector.TheSRDbodyconsistsofaglass‐fillednylonhousingthatcontainsa6'lengthofhigh
performancepolyethyleneandpolyesterfiberwebbingwoundontoaspring‐tensioneddrum.Theattachmentendofthewebbingmaybeconfiguredwith
avarietyofsewn‐onconnectors.Astitchedfoldinthelifelinebetweenthehousingandthelegendconnectorfunctionsasaretractionstopandafall
arrestimpactindicator.Ifthestitchingistornloose,
removetheunitfromservice.
Whenattachedandtheworkermovesabout,thelifelinepaysoutandretracts,automaticallymaintainingatautline.Ifafalloccurs,acentrifugalsystem
engagesalockmechanismthatappliesadiscbrake,slowingandarrestingthefall.
Forpurposesofthismanual,the6'DuraTechWebSRDmaybereferredtoastheequipment,thedevice,theproduct,ortheunit.SeeTables1‐A,1‐Band
1‐C,andFigure1inAppendixA.Itisrecommendedthattheuseroftheequipmentdiscussedinthismanualreadandunderstandtheentiremanualbefore
beginningwork.

twoclassifications;ClassA,andClassB.TheSRDdiscussedinthismanualhasbeentestedtoandconformstoANSIZ359.14standardsforaClassBdevice.
ThesetestsincludeDynamicPe
rformanceTesting,DynamicStrengthTesting,StaticStrengthTesting,andRetractionTensionTesting.TheSRDwasalso
testedforStaticStrengthperOSHAregulations.Seeparagraph3.5.1.
2.APPLICATION
2.1Purpose:AnSRDisdesignedforuseasacomponentinaPFAS,toprovideacombinationofworkermobilityandfallprotectionasrequiredforinspection
work,generalconstruction,maintenancework,oilproduction,confinedspaceworkoranyapplicationwherefallprotectionandworkermobilityisrequired.
TheDuraTechSRDisintendedforPersonalFallArrestapplicationsonly.TheSRDisnotdesignednorsuitedforuseinrestraint,personnelriding,
suspension,workpositioning,orrescueapplications.DoNOTusetheSRDfortheseapplicationsexceptasaback‐upPFAS.
2.2PersonalFallArrestSystem:APFASistypicallycomposedofananchorageandaFBH,withanenergyabsorbingconnectingdevice,i.e
.,aSAL,anSRD,
oraFallArresterConnectingSubsystem(FACSS),attachedtothedorsalD‐ringofproperlyfittedandadjustedFBH.AllusesandapplicationsofaFBHwiththis
equipmentrequirestheFBHtobeproperlyfittedandadjustedtotheuser.FailuretoproperlyfittheFBHtotheusercouldresul
tinseriousinjuryordeath.
TheSRDmaybeinstalledonaFBH,orattachedtoasuitableanchorage.SeeSection4foradditionaldetails.
2.3SRDOrientationinFallArrest:The6'SRDisaversatiledesign,capableofmultipleattachmentorientationoptions,eitherasasingle‐le
gunit,orasa
twin‐legunit,asshowninFigures2A,2B,and2CofAppendixA.
