6.1Maintenance:KeeptheSRDfreeofcontaminantssuchaspaint,grease,gritandchemicalsasthismayhinderlifelinefunctions.Keepdebris
from
enteringthehousingthroughthelifelineport.Cleantheexterioroftheunitasrequiredwithasoap/watersolution.Donotallowanywaterinsidethe
housing.Aftercleaning,pullthelifelineallthewayout,allowtheunittoairdry,thenretractthelifelineintotheunit.
DONOTuseheattodry.
DONOTattempttodisassembletheSRD.
InspecttheSRDaccordingtotheproceduresinSection7beforereturningittoservice.IftheSRDfailsanyportionoftheinspectionchecklist,removeit
fromservice,tagtheunitas“UNUSABLE”,andconsultwiththemanufacturer.
6.2Service:Removetheunitfromserviceifithasbeensubjectedtofallarrest forces.Tag theunitas“UNUSABLE”topr eve ntfutureuse.The SRDisnotrepairable.
6.3Storage:Hangtostore,outofdirectsunlight.Ensurethelifelineiscompletelyretractedintothehousing.Avoidexposure
tochemicalagentsand
vapors,airbornedebris,andwateringress.
Storeunitstaggedas“UNUSABLE”inaclearlymarkedareatopreventinadvertentuse.Inspectanyunitthathasbeenstoredforanextendedtimein
accordancewiththeproceduresdetailedinSection7.
7.INSPECTION
7.1PreUseInspection:PerformaninspectionbeforeeachuseinaccordancewiththeInspectionChecklistproceduresinTable3ofAppendixA.

7.2InspectionFrequency:OSHA1910.66,OSHA1926.502andANSIZ359.14requireaninspectionbytheAuthorizedPersonbeforeeachuse.Inaddition,
aninspectionbyaCompetentPersonatregularintervalsisrequired.TheCompetentPersonwillusetheinformationintheInspectionIntervalTableto
determinetheinspectionfrequency.SeeTable2inAppendixA.
