1.DESCRIPTION
TheFallTech®10'DuraTech®WebSRDis
aself‐retractinglifelineforthoseworkingatheight.Atthetopoftheunit,aswivelingaluminumeyeprovidesan
attachmentpointforaself‐closingandself‐lockingconnector.TheSRDbodyconsistsofaglass‐fillednylonhousingthatcontainsa10'lengthofhigh
performancepolyethyleneandpolyesterfiberwebbingwoundontoaspring‐tensioneddrum.Thelegendofthewebbingmaybeconfiguredwithavariety
ofsewn‐onconnectors.Astitchedfoldinthelifelinefunctionsasaretractionstopandaloadindicator.
Whenattachedandtheworkermovesabout,thelifelinepaysoutandretracts,automaticallymaintainingatautline .Ifafalloccurs,acentrifugalpawl
mechanismwithinthedrumengages,whichappliesaninternaldiscbrake,slowingandarrestingthefall.
Forpurposesofthismanual,the10'DuraTechWebSRDmaybereferredtoastheSRD,theequipment,thedevice,theproduct,ortheunit.SeeTables1‐A,
1‐B,1‐C,1‐D,andFigure1inAppendixA.Itisrecommendedthattheuseroftheequipmentdiscussedinthismanualreadandunderstandtheentire
manualbeforebeginningwork.

1.3ANSIStandardsandOSHARegulations:ANSIstandardZ359.14setsperformancerequirementsforSRDs,basedondynamictesting.Thesetestsinclude
dynamicperformancetesting,dynamicstrengthtesting,staticstrengthtesting,andretractiontensiontesting.TherearetwoclassesofSRD,ClassAand
ClassB.TheSRDdiscussedinthismanualhasbeentestedtoandconformstoANSIZ359.14standardsforaClassBdevice.TheSRDwasalsotestedfor
staticstrengthperOSHAregulations.Seeparagraph3.5.1.
2.APPLICATION
2.1Purpose:AnSRDisdesignedforuseasacomponentinaPFAS,toprovideacombinationofworkermobilityandfallprotectionasrequiredfor
inspectionwork,generalconstruction,maintenancework,oilproduction,confinedspaceworkoranyapplicationwherefallprotectionandworkermobility
isrequired.
TheDuraTechSRDisintendedforPersonalFallArrestapplicationsonly.TheSRDisnotdesignednorsuitedforuseinrestraint,personnelriding,
suspension,workpositioning,orrescueapplications.Do
NOTusetheSRDfortheseapplicationsexceptasaback‐upPFAS.
2.2PersonalFallArrestSystem:APFASistypicallycomposedofananchorageandanFBH,withanenergyabsorbingconnectingdevice,i.e.,aSAL,anSRD,
oraFallArresterConnectingSubsystem(FACSS),attachedtothedorsal
D‐ringoftheFBH.AllusesandapplicationsofanFBHwiththisequipmentrequires
theFBHtobeadjustedandproperlyfittedtotheuser.FailuretoadjustandproperlyfittheFBHtotheusercouldresultinseriousinjuryordeath.TheSRD
maybeinstalled
onaFBH,orattachedtoasuitableanchorage.SeeSection4foradditionaldetails.
2.3SRDOrientationinFallArrest:TheSRDisdesignedforuseineitheroftwoconfigurations;
WiththehousingendinstalledonthedorsalD‐ringofaproperlyadjustedandfittedFBH.The
legendisconnectedtoananchorage,whichcanrange
fromoverhead(abovetheD‐ring)tonon‐overhead(belowtheD‐ring).SeeFigure2AinAppendix A.

2.4ApplicationLimits:Takeactiontoavoidmovingmachinery,sharpedges,abrasivesurfaces,andthermal,electrical,andchemicalhazardsascontact

seriousinjuryordeath.

DONOTusetheSRDtolifttools,materials,orpersonnel.
Removefromservice anyequipmentsubjectedtofallarrestforces.
3.SYSTEMREQUIREMENTS
3.1Capacity:TomaintainANSIZ359compliance,limituserweighttoarangeof
130‐310lbs.,(58.9‐140.6kg),includingclothing,t ools,etc.
3.2CompatibilityofConnectors:Connectorsareconsideredtobecompatiblewithconnectingelementswhentheyhavebeendesignedtoworktogether
insuchawaythattheirsizesandshapesdonotcausetheirgatemechanismstoinadvertentlyopenregardless
ofhowtheybecomeoriented.Contact
FallTechifyouhaveanyquestionsaboutcompatibility.Connectorsmustbecompatiblewiththeanchorageorothersystemcomponents.Donotuse
equipmentthatisnotcompatible.Non‐compatibleconnectorsmayunintentionallydisengage.Connectorsmustbecompatibleinsize,shape,andstrength.
