7. Maintenance and checks
The vehicles of FALLER Car System represent finest, very realistic reproduc-
tions of reality. The structure of these vehicles requires some care at regu-
lar intervals to ensure that you will have as much fun as possible with the
vehicles and their functions, for as long as possible.
Cleaning
From time to time, dust and lint deposits must be removed from axle-bea-
rings, and from drive and steering elements of vehicles. Model roads, too,
should always be kept free of dust and tyre particles.
Clean the vehicles using a soft dry cloth and a soft dry paintbrush, or by
softly blowing air. Never use water or aggressive detergents.
Lubrication
As on the big originals, all rotating parts of vehicles (drive axles, front tyre
axles) and all moveable parts of the steering unit (front-axle swivel pins)
have to be lubricated. We recommend using FALLER special lubricant
(Art. 170488) or FALLER special oiler (Art. 170489).
The lubrication service points are shown with red circles in Figure 2. Here
too, follow the principle ‘as little as possible, as much as necessary’! When
parts are dry, a minute quantity of oil equivalent to the point of a needle is
sufficient and will ensure smooth run for a long time.
Excess oil at the points shown below might combine with dust and other
dirt particles to form a sticky paste that would be detrimental rather than
beneficial.
