Making the ETL Listed Mark
work for you.
To be eligible for your product to bear
Intertek’s ETL Listed Mark you will have:
• Tests and evaluations (completed)
• Certification Agreements (completed,
signed, dated and returned to Intertek)
• Initial Factory Inspection (completed and
successful)
• Authorization to Mark certificate (signed,
dated and received by manufacturer)
The ETL Listed Mark is evidence to your
customers and to Authorities Having
Jurisdiction (AHJs) that your model/product
conforms to applicable standards and that
there is a program of ongoing factory
inspections. This can help build customer
confidence in your model/product.
Your ETL Certification Mark can be displayed
proudly on your model/product and its
packaging, in advertising, sales literature, and
in user documentation. It can be a powerful
marketing aid, providing that it is used
correctly.

be downloaded from Intertek’s Web site

GENERAL GUIDELINES:
THE USE OF THE MARKS
Literature, Advertising, Documentation
There are a few easy-to-follow rules on the
use of the ETL Mark.
• Reference to the Listed Mark may be made
only in connection with currently listed
model/products. Mention of listing is not a
replacement or substitute for having the Listed
Mark on the model/product.
• The ETL Mark may only be applied to the
product at the authorized manufacturing site.
• You may enlarge or reduce the Mark, but it
cannot be changed in any other way. The
registration symbol, ®, or CM must be visible.
• For colors, 100% black is always acceptable
for the ETL Mark. You may also use Pantone
Matching System
®
color PMS 185, which is a
red.
• If you wish to include text that refers to the
Listed Mark or to the process of Product Safety
Certification, or to Intertek, you must submit it to
the Intertek Marketing Department for approval.

• The terms of your Certification Agreement
take precedence over any other Listed Mark
usage information.
LITERATURE & SALES MATERIALS

product safety. Your Listed Mark may be
incorporated into a wide variety of marketing
materials ranging from trade show displays and
direct mail items, to print and electronic
catalogs, user manuals, coupons, counter cards,
Web sites, hang tags, news releases, and
newsletters.
