In addition to utilizing a high percentage of post
consumer recycled content in their manufac-
ture, metal roong can be installed directly
over an existing roof providing an extra layer
of insulation and preventing the old roof from
nding its way to the landll. A key component
in evaluating buildings for LEED is the ability to
reduce or eliminate building materials from be-
ing deposited in landlls.

One of the most benecial aspects of metal roof-
ing is its ability to reect sunlight. Rather than
absorbing into asphalt shingles, which can heat
up a building, metal roofs have been known to
reduce energy bills (during summer months) by
up to 20%.

Fabral metal substrates are excellent options for constructing sustainable
buildings. Aluminum, stainless steel, Galvalume, copper and galvanized steel
are recyclable materials. Additionally, Fabral metal products contain post-
consumer as well as pre-consumer recycled content qualifying the project for
LEED points. Since metal is a long-lasting product (up to 60 years), it’s inher-
ently a better option than products that do not last as long.
