5.2 Common Tasks
You can configure the manual scan and firewall settings and check the
latest virus definition database updates from the common tasks page.
Choose one of the following actions:
Click Modify advanced settings... to view and configure advanced
settings.
Scan the computer
for malware
Opens a scanning wizard that can scan the
computer for any type of malware, including
viruses, worms and trojans. Follow the
on-screen instructions for more details. For more
information, see “Manual Scanning”, 44.
Create a firewall rule Create a new firewall rule. You can control which
type of network traffic is allowed and denied with
firewall rules. For more information, see “Add
And Edit Rules”, 53.
Check the integrity of
the file system
Check that important system files have not been
modified without permission. For more
information, see “Integrity Checking”, 57.
Update virus
definitions
Retrieve the latest virus definition database
updates from the Internet. For more information,
see “Automatic Updates”, 66.
Install software Install new software while maintaining the
system integrity. The integrity checker checks
the full system integrity and reports results, after
which you can proceed installing software.
