The Estimated Total Jitter (TJ) allows you to predict the jitter expected for very
low bit error rates that would take a long time to measure. It is obtained by
extrapolating the measured BER curves.
The TJ is estimated by extending the BER curves (based on the points detected
between the BER Threshold and the Minimum BER for RJ/DJ Separation) to the
Residual BER for RJ/DJ Separation level. The estimated TJ is the period minus
the width of the measured eye.
N O T E
The following graphic is not available from the measurement software. It is inserted
here to show how the TJ period is calculated.
